FDB updates SNOMED concepts for COVID-19 within FDB Multilex

FDB today announced that all recent SNOMED released concepts to support the management of COVID-19 in the NHS have been incorporated within its Multilex database. This includes the most recent 1st April UK released content, which will be available in FDB’s April 2020 datacut. This will help ensure that vendors and end users have these codes available in a timely manner.

FDB will also fast track the further incremental ‘micro-releases’ from UK SNOMED CT, which will include more COVID-19 related content for the NHS, so that this data will be available to FDB customers. The ‘micro-releases’ are currently expected to coincide with the releases of UK SNOMED CT Drug extension on 22 April, 20 May and 17 June.

The updated standardised dataset will enable accurate recording of the condition within the patient’s medical records, helping to inform prescribing and patient care during this pandemic.

SNOMED CT is a structured clinical vocabulary for use in an electronic health record and provides comprehensive and precise clinical health terminology.
