FDB achieves Cyber Essentials Plus

FDB (First Databank) is pleased to announce that it has successfully achieved the Cyber Essentials Plus certification for the first time. This is the higher standard of certification for the UK government-backed scheme that helps organisations protect themselves against common cyber-attacks. FDB has also achieved the Cyber Essentials certification, once again.

What are Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?

The Cyber Essentials scheme sets out five technical controls that can prevent most of the cyber threats that target small and medium-sized businesses. These controls are secure configuration, boundary firewalls, access control, patch management, and malware protection. Cyber Essentials Plus is a higher level of certification that involves a more rigorous assessment of an organisation's cyber security practices, requiring an independent auditor to verify that an organisation meets the Cyber Essentials standards and tests its resilience against simulated hacking and phishing attacks.

Why is this important for FDB?

Achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus demonstrate FDB’s continuing commitment to cyber security. In a statement, Denise Strawbridge, Head of Legal and Compliance at FDB, said: "We are delighted to have achieved Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus – a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the security of our solutions and the data we handle. This is a significant milestone for us and reflects our continuous efforts to ensure that we meet the highest standards of cyber security and data protection. We are proud to be a trusted partner for our customers and partners in the healthcare sector."
