Last week, staff from FDB’s UK office spent the day partnering with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and the Canal & River Trust as part of the companies charity days scheme.

It was an exciting opportunity for staff to find out more about the charities’ work, help to raise awareness, fundraise and provide hands-on help for the day.

Robert Nyland, Business Development Manager at FDB who organised the fundraising for Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) Charity said: “Spending the day with the fundraising team at BCH was inspiring, and we are delighted to have raised £478.18 in such a fun way. The money we raised will help to fund vital services for the transportation of sick children between NHS services across the Midlands.” FDB are matching the funds raised by the team, giving a total contribution to BCH of £956.36

A few miles south of the city, a second FDB team spent the day volunteering for the Canal & River Trust, a charity which helps to maintain more than 2000 waterways across England and Wales. FDB staff spent the day helping to maintain Earlswood Lakes. Oliver Clift, Head of Account Management, Delivery & Implementation said: “The work that the Canal & River Trust do is key to ensuring that our waterways can be enjoyed and accessed by all. We were honoured to spend the day in the great outdoors, learning more about the canal and lake ecosystem and rolling our sleeves up to help repair the footpaths around the lake. It was hard work but incredibly satisfying to help preserve and improve a natural wildlife habitat.”

FDB’s UK employees are encouraged to take two days paid time off, to volunteer and support charitable causes as part of our ongoing commitment to the communities in which we operate. To find out more about the culture and benefits of working at FDB visit our in careers page.
