Rachel Britton is a pharmacist, Independent Prescriber and trained in advanced clinical practice. She has experience spanning the NHS, third sector and healthcare/biotech startups. Rachel holds a PhD in the pharmaceutical care of people who use drugs and has worked in senior clinical leadership roles across complex healthcare services, with specialist interests in substance misuse, mental health, and chronic pain.

Throughout her career, Rachel has led multidisciplinary teams, developed clinical governance frameworks, and supported organisations to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes. She is passionate about translating clinical evidence into practical solutions that help healthcare professionals deliver safer, more effective care.

As FDB's Caldicott Guardian, Rachel plays a key role in promoting the appropriate use and protection of health information, ensuring that patient confidentiality, data governance, and clinical safety remain at the heart of the organisation's work. She is committed to maintaining the highest standards of information governance while enabling the responsible use of data to improve healthcare outcomes.
