Multilex Update to .Net API and Web API Deployment
At FDB, we are constantly striving to innovate and improve the experience for our customers. Our latest Multilex project focuses on Linux and Azure development, delivering a subtle yet transformative enhancement to the deployment process for our APIs by harnessing the power of Linux and Azure. This initiative is designed to make life significantly easier for customers implementing either the .Net API or Web API.
What’s Changing?
Previously, deploying the API required provisioning servers and configuring systems. Now we’re working towards a Linux-based solution with containers, that could be as straightforward as a single command: “Run me the API.”
With this new approach, the API will automatically set itself up, load its data cut, and be operational within minutes. This innovation reduces the technical burden on our customers and minimises the need for extensive technical support, whilst still being hosted by the customer – thereby still running on the customer’s infrastructure and aligning with their governance procedures.
Why This Matters
The ability to deploy in cloud environments is becoming increasingly important for our customers and our new approach aligns perfectly with this trend. And through this development we’re primarily helping our customers simplify deployment whilst also advancing our own hosting capabilities. This dual benefit makes it easier for us to host and manage these systems, creating a win-win scenario.
What This Means for Our Customers
The key advantage of this development is the ability to run the APIs on serverless platforms. Customers will no longer need to invest in expensive virtual machines (VMs) with Microsoft Windows licences and other associated costs. Instead, they can simply instruct their chosen cloud provider - whether it’s Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or another platform - to run the Web API container.
This shift is not only logical but also timely, as major players are moving away from traditional server platforms in favour of container hosting. By responding to customer demand and embracing this modern approach, we’re ensuring that Multilex remains at the forefront of innovation.
Looking Ahead
This project represents a significant step forward in our commitment to delivering customer-centric solutions by simplifying API deployment.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate and enhance our offerings!
